The Santa Monica Police Department is investigating a violent family dispute that has resulted in at least one death.
According to a statement released by SMPD, officers were called to a home in the 1200 block of Sunset Ave at about 6:23 a.m. Thursday morning by a man asking for help. Officers found three adults at the scene, two men and a woman. All had stab wounds and the woman died at the scene. Both men were taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition, one with wounds to the chest and the second with stomach injuries.
Officers determined the three were a family — mother, father and son. The son, listed as being in his 40’s, is currently in police custody but has not been charged. Sergeant Roberto Villegas said any booking activity, including the release of the suspect’s name, would occur after his medical treatment.
“The investigation is ongoing and at this time no additional suspects are being sought,” said the statement. “The names of the victims and the suspect will not be released pending further investigation.”
