On October 3, at about 9:35 a.m.

Officers were dispatched to the Housing Authority office located at the intersection of Main and Pico Blvd, regarding a theft investigation. When officers arrived they met with a victim who was detaining a suspect who attempted to steal the victim’s bicycle from the business. The victim informed officers that a witness observed the suspect stealing the bicycle and recognized it was not his, then immediately informed the victim. The victim was able to chase and catch the suspect before police arrived. During a search of the suspect, officers recovered a clear plastic baggie containing a crystalline substance that resembled methamphetamine. The suspect also had a no-bail warrant for a probation violation.

Eric Allen Roberts, 52, homeless, was arrested for commercial burglary and possession of methamphetamine. He was denied bail.
