Harpist Cristina Montes Mateo, unanimous winner of 1st prize at both the Torneo Internazionale di Musica in Rome and the International Harp Competition V. Bucchi, will be the spotlight artist as Chamber Music Palisades presents the first concert of its 2018-2019 season. Now in its 22nd consecutive season, CMP presents all concerts in the sanctuary of St. Matthew’s Parish at 1031 Bienveneda Ave. in Pacific Palisades.

Joining Mateo for the evening performance will be cellist David Garrett, violist Aaron Oltman and CMP Co-Artistic Directors flutist Susan Greenberg and pianist Delores Stevens. In addition to works for harp by Ravel, Andres and Cras, there will be two by Beethoven and one by Schumann,

Harpist Montes Mateo has performed under the batons of many of the world’s leading conductors including Bernard Haitink, Sir Colin Davis, Pierre Boulez and Daniel Barenboim. The high regard for her in the concert world is summed up in the quote from Placido Domingo in 2016: “I have met and heard thousands of musicians but I can highlight only one of them in the harp world; Cristina Montes Mateo.”

The doors to the concert will open at 7:30 p.m. and the concert will begin at 8 p.m. Tickets will be available for $30 at the door and students are admitted free. Parking is available adjacent to the Parish.
