Back in 1954 the Santa Monica Lions established a tradition, not only in the City of Santa Monica, but as a part of Lions International. It was the year of the first Pancake Breakfast raising funds for local charities serving people in Santa Monica. Last year I met a woman whose son was one of the Santa Monica Boys & Girls Club (SMBGC) volunteers helping with the breakfast. She has been coming every year since she was a volunteer at SMBGC . . . helping with the SM Lions Pancake Breakfast!

That tradition continues today as we prepare for our 61st Pancake Breakfast on Saturday, Sept. 26th at the SM Boys & Girls Club. This year we will still be offering the same great pancakes, eggs, sausages and orange juice; thanks to our many community business partners. The only change this year will be the event starting at 8:00 a.m. and running until noon.

We will still have a fun-filled morning for families with a bounce house, fishing pool, face painting and balloon artist. In addition to providing a great chance to meet with friends and enjoy a leisurely breakfast and conversation, we will also be introducing a pick-a-prize raffle with the chance to win an item of your choice. You may buy as many raffle tickets as you wish, and “bid” on those items you want by placing one or more of your tickets in the jar beside the item(s). We will be choosing one winning ticket from each jar, with that item going to the owner of that ticket. Keep checking our Facebook page to see the growing list of items.
