Sheila Kuehl

Los Angeles City Councilmember Bob Blumenfield has endorsed Sheila Kuehl for L.A. County supervisor, citing her leadership and effectiveness in the California Legislature.

Blumenfield’s endorsement could prove valuable as he represents the Third Council District, which spans the northwest portion of Los Angeles in the San Fernando Valley, including the communities of Canoga Park, Reseda, Tarzana, Winnetka and Woodland Hills.

Kuehl, a popular face in Santa Monica, will need to reach out to voters in the valley if she wants to succeed Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky, who is being termed out after decades in office.

“There’s no candidate like Sheila Kuehl in the race for L.A. County’s Third District,” Blumenfield said. “For 14 years, Sheila was a powerful voice for our valley in the Legislature and we are a large segment of the county’s Third District. She has always been deeply committed and connected to her constituents and, most importantly, understands and knows how to provide the services they need.”

Kuehl reiterated the importance of working with effective Valley-based leaders to ensure the proper funding of transportation and job creation in the region.

Kuehl served for eight years in the California State Senate and six years in the State Assembly. Currently, she serves as founding director of the Public Policy Institute at Santa Monica College.
