Rep. Henry A. Waxman, Sen. Tom Harkin, and Rep. Peter Welch sent a letter to California Attorney Gen. Kamala D. Harris, Iowa Attorney Gen. Tom Miller, and Vermont Attorney Gen. William H. Sorrell urging them to classify electronic cigarettes as cigarettes under the Tobacco Master Settlement Agreement (MSA) to prevent e-cigarette companies from targeting youth and getting them addicted to their products.
Data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention finds that use of e-cigarettes by children is increasing rapidly and could serve as a gateway to nicotine addiction. Unlike conventional cigarettes, e-cigarettes are not subject to restrictions on advertising and marketing. Classifying e-cigarettes as cigarettes under the MSA would prohibit tobacco companies from targeting youth in advertising and marketing of these products.
In the letter the members stated, “We have admiration for your efforts to protect children from the dangers of tobacco. That is why we hope you will consider taking this much-needed step in the ongoing battle against tobacco products. The MSA gives you a powerful tool to stop e-cigarette makers from targeting youth, and we urge you to consider using it.”
It is not just the kids being sold this product but the overall health of those in the surrounding area of the E-CIG SMOKER.
E-Cigarette…. oh lets have fun on this one.
What are they … Nothing more than an elaborate extension of the HOOKAH?
The E-cig simply individualizes the Hookah to one device and one person.
True there is no solid tobacco use but the use of vapors through fluids is the key.
Now let’s analyze the sneeze. That is a simple function where a person exhales vapors or in this case contagious mucus from within his or her person to the outside world.
What did our parents say to us as we sneezed … cover your mouth and nose with your hand?
Today we learn to prevent the sharing of our sneeze we should cover our nose and mouth with that part of our arm located on the opposite side of our elbow. HMMMMMMMMMMMMM I wonder why?
Now let’s consider the so called E-Cig. The first step after igniting the E-cig requires the individual to suck in a mouth and lung full of enhanced nicotine/flavored vapor. This vapor passes through all the channels that the air we breathe travels. Eventually the vapors reach the lungs.
Then the next step of enjoying the flavor and taste and effects are attained.
Finally there is the expulsion of the vapors to the surrounding environs.
How does this affect the non-e-cig individual in the area like a restaurant, or the bar, or some public arena?
My contention is as follows … the affect is no different than a person who sneezes in a similar environ. It spreads unhealthy vapors to the areas outside the e-cig users own person.
The above is the reason that the e-cig should not be used any differently than the regular cig user.
If I choose to stand next to an E-Cig person that is up to me, I don’t want the e-cig smoker to attain any more freedom than the regular cig smoker.
As to the controls and inspections of the e-cigs and the fluids sold what are the protections for the users that purchase the e-cig device and fluids??? HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!
We don’t need any special rules, regulations, or laws for the e-cig user or the products sold to the e-cig user.. They should have the same standing as the regular-cig smoker, or cigar smoker or chimney smoker or hookah smoker or pipe smoker. If you can identify any other types of smokers let me know.
