PUBLIC SAFETY FACILITY — A motorcyclist killed when the bike he was riding collided with a car in Santa Monica was identified Tuesday as a 22-year-old Culver City man.

The collision happened just after 1 p.m. Monday at the intersection of 25th Street and Pico Boulevard, according to police.
Alexander Smollins died at the scene of the crash, said an investigator with the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office.

Smollins was eastbound in the 2400 block of Pico Boulevard when he struck a car driven by a 26-year-old Inglewood man, said SMPD Sgt. Richard Lewis.

The car had been northbound on 25th Street and turned left onto Pico after stopping at a stop sign when it was struck by the motorcycle.

The crash remains under investigation and anyone who may have witnessed it was urged to call police at (310) 458-8495.
No arrests have been made in the crash. Lewis said Monday that drugs and alcohol did not play a role in the accident.
