The Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District (SMMUSD) is looking for someone to sit on the Personnel Commission and help with the hiring and retention of employees working outside of the classroom.

The Personnel Commission is the public body responsible for the administration of a “merit system” and is composed of three members.

The Personnel Comission vacancy will become available on Aug. 1, 2012 and expire Dec. 1, 2013.

Those interested must be a registered voter and live within the SMMUSD community, and be familiar with and support the merit system.

Applicants also cannot be a member of the SMMUSD Board of Education, or the County Board of Education or any employee of the school district.

Applications are now available at the Office of the Superintendent, 1651 16th St., or on the district’s website — They are due by July 20, 2012.
