SAMOHI — Santa Monica’s boys’ volleyball team made short work of Mark Keppel on Tuesday to advance to the second round of the CIF-Southern Section Division 4 playoffs.

Playing on their own court, Samohi won in straight sets, 25-8, 25-14, 25-22.

The victory sets up a second round match with Bishop Montgomery for the No. 3 seeded squad from Samohi.

The game will be played today also at Samohi. It begins at 7 p.m.

Xrds advances, too

Crossroads’ boys’ volleyball team joins Samohi in the second round of the Division 4 playoffs.

Xrds defeated Garden Grove on the road in four sets, 25-19, 25-20, 23-25, 29-27.

Crossroads will host Sage Hill, also on Thursday at 7 p.m.

Samohi softball looks to stay undefeated

Samohi’s softball team will travel to rival Culver City seeking to go 10-0 in Ocean League play and secure a 12th straight title.

Culver City still has a shot at a share of the league title if they can defeat Samohi, who beat the Centaurs 9-1 late last month.
