Santa Monica police officers issued 66 citations over roughly seven hours Friday night during a citywide DUI “saturation patrol,” but no driver was arrested for driving under the influence, authorities said Monday.

The patrol, funded by a grant from the Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, took place Friday, Feb. 24, from 6 p.m. to 1:30 a.m.

During that time, police made 83 traffic stops and conducted 16 DUI investigations. In addition to the 66 citations for various offenses, 17 drivers were given warnings and released. Another man was arrested for being in possession of a stolen bicycle, police said.
