Memorial Park Fitness Room free for a week
City Hall, along with Active Santa Monica, is trying to give you no excuse to abandon that New Year’s resolution to get in shape.
The Memorial Park Fitness Room, part of the Memorial Park Gymnasium located at 1401 Olympic Blvd., will be free to try for anyone ages 16 and up from Jan. 23 to Jan. 30.
Group Fitness, Yoga Sculpt and Abs! Workout programs will be offered free of charge during the week.
The fitness room also stocks weights, strength training machines and cardio machines. Entry is normally $3 a visit for residents and $4 for non-residents. Four-week passes are also available.

SMMUSD seeks advisory committee member
There is a vacancy on the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District’s Measure BB advisory committee, and the district wants to fill it.
Committee members will assist the Board of Education and district staff by helping provide the community’s perspective regarding school construction that uses funds from Measure BB.
Applicants should have a link to the culture and geography of the district, and some kind of expertise in a relevant field, such as construction, safety or environmental concerns.
