SMC — Campus police have released a sketch of an armed robbery suspect who made off with an undisclosed amount of cash last Thursday after holding up a used-books buyer at Santa Monica College.

Police said the suspect walked up to the buyback vendor around 1 p.m. and demanded money. He allegedly showed a silver semi-automatic handgun that he had in his backpack. The vendor, who did not work for Santa Monica College, immediately complied and the suspect ran northbound to Pico Boulevard, police said.

The suspect is described as a white male in his late 20s or early 30s, around 5-feet, 11-inches tall and weighing 180 pounds. He was wearing a charcoal-gray hooded sweatshirt, dark color jeans, black baseball cap and aviator-style sunglasses. The backpack he was carrying was black.

No injuries were reported.

The Santa Monica Police Department is investigating and anyone with information is urged to contact detectives at (310) 458-8941. Those with information can provide an anonymous tip by calling (310) 434-UTIP (8847).
