The NephCure Walk scheduled for this Saturday in Santa Monica is a fundraiser that is designed to raise money, awareness and hope for research about nephrotic syndrome and focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS), kidney disorders that have no known cure.
The walk is organized by NephCure, a Pennsylvania-based organization dedicated to research and education about nephrotic syndome and FSGS.
The event begins at 9 a.m. with a walk along the strand in front of the Annenberg Beach House.
A brunch will be served after the walk. The brunch will be hosted by Sarretta McDonough, a Santa Monica parent whose 6-year-old daughter, Lauren, suffers from FSGS.
At 11:30 a.m., the event will feature three prominent nephrologists from Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, UCLA and Children’s Hospital Los Angeles speaking about current treatments and research.
Registration for the walk is free, and can be done online or at 8 a.m. before the event. For more information, go to www.nephcure.org/walk
