DOWNTOWN — The latest CIF-Southern Section girls’ volleyball poll has Santa Monica High School and Pacifica Christian holding their positions.
Pacifica Christian retained its hold on the No. 1 position in the Division 4-A poll. Samohi, which opened the season No. 1 in the Division 3-AA poll, clings to its current No. 3 spot. Chadwick and Pasadena Poly are currently No. 1 and No. 2 in the poll released on Monday.
Samohi opens Ocean League play today at rival Culver City. The game is scheduled for 3:15 p.m.
The 10-4 Pacifica Christian Seawolves next play on Oct. 10 against Hillcrest Christian. The road game is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
Pacifica Christian played at Faith Baptist on Tuesday, but results from the match were not available at presstime.
Poll has Ocean League tint
The Ocean League has a healthy presence on the latest CIF-SS Western Division football poll.
Culver City (4-0) is currently No. 5 on the poll, with three additional Ocean League teams currently listed among “others.”
The others list includes teams on the cusp of the poll. Samohi, Morningside and Inglewood are all in that group.
Beverly Hills and Hawthorne are the only Ocean League teams not included on the list.
Samohi wraps up its preseason schedule on Friday at Compton Centennial.

Samohi’s girls’ tennis team is currently ranked No. 9 in the latest CIF-SS Division 2 poll.
San Marino is currently No. 1.
