If you want to know what’s happening in Santa Monica, City Hall has something for you.

SM Alerts is a mass notification system that will keep subscribers informed in the event of an emergency. Just sign up online and have alerts sent to your e-mail or smartphone. SM Alerts is capable of updating the community within minutes of an event across a variety of platforms.

Registering will require you to set up a profile so that you can choose how you prefer to be contacted and when. Select various areas in the city which are of concern to you, such as your residence or workplace, a relative’s home or a child’s school. Register for updates on road construction, traffic, Big Blue Bus detours and more.

SM Alerts is free (other than the rates charged by your cell phone provider) and available to all who live, work, attend school or play in Santa Monica.
