The Walt Disney Co. has awarded the Boys & Girls Clubs of Santa Monica a $5,000 grant to help fund programs that serve over 7,000 kids.

“We rely on the generosity of organizations like The Walt Disney Co. for funding of programs that help us give the kids we serve each year a brighter future,” Aaron Young, president and CEO of the club, said.

The grant will help fund the club’s education, leadership and recreation programs crafted to create a safe and nurturing environment for all youth, regardless of economic background or race, ages 7 to 18. The Walt Disney Company also donated 50 park tickets for a summer field trip.

“We are grateful to the Walt Disney Co. for helping us put smiles on the faces of the kids we serve,” Young said.

The Walt Disney Co. is actively involved in community service donating more than $198 million in 2010 to several charities around the world.

In addition, Disney heads Disney VolunTEARS who since its start 26 years ago have contributed more than 5 million hours of service in over 42 countries.
