Jaclyn Lantz, former director of development for the American Red Cross Los Angeles Region, will now serve as director of advancement for the Upward Bound House, a Santa Monica-based nonprofit organization dedicated to placing homeless families into housing.

Lantz is responsible for fundraising and marketing materials advancing the mission of Upward Bound, as well as building relationships in the community. She plans to use her experience at the Red Cross to her advantage, according to a statement released on Wednesday.

Lantz said she was drawn to Upward Bound’s “fantastic mission.”

Upward Bound has helped 1,200 homeless individuals, over half of which were children, off the streets and into housing.

“This is an exceptional organization poised to grow and develop; they are already doing a tremendous amount with the resources they have,” she said, adding that she hopes her new position will allow her to make a real difference in the community.

Lantz graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a bachelor’s degree in political science.
