DOWNTOWN — New Roads’ baseball team, currently in first place in the Coastal League, is ranked No. 3 in the latest CIF-Southern Section Division 7 poll, it was announced Monday.

The Jaguars are 12-5 overall and 4-0 in league play.

Next for New Roads is a road game against league rival San Pedro Rolling Hills Prep today at 3:30 p.m.

Samohi v-ball still No. 1

Santa Monica High School’s boys’ volleyball team has retained its No. 1 ranking in CIF-SS Division 4, it was released on Monday.

The Vikings, currently first in the Ocean League, play Culver City today on the road. The game is scheduled for 3:15 p.m.

St. Monica v-ball drops tourney games

The boys’ volleyball team at St. Monica lost a pair of Sylmar Invitational Tournament games over the weekend.

The Mariners, who have already clinched the Camino Real League title, lost to Eagle Rock and Cleveland high schools.

St. Monica played league rival St. Paul yesterday at home, but results were not available at presstime. The Mariners wrap up the regular season on Wednesday at Mary Star of the Sea.
