Santa Monica Seafood, which was founded in 1939 at the end of the Santa Monica Pier, has purchased one of its main rivals, Long Beach Seafood Co., along with its inventory and other assets, officials with the company said Monday.
With the purchase, Santa Monica Seafood, which is one of the region’s largest distributors of fresh and frozen seafood, will have approximately 300 employees.
Officials did not disclose the purchase price.
“The combined customer base of Santa Monica Seafood and Long Beach Seafood represents the largest segment of the highest quality restaurants, hotels and country clubs in Southern California, Nevada and Arizona,” said Anthony Cigliano, president of Santa Monica Seafood.
Long Beach Seafood had been in operation for 90 years.
Santa Monica Seafood’s headquarters are located in Rancho Dominguez, Calif.
