Police arrested three men Sunday morning for allegedly trying to break into a guest house in the 2300 block of 21st Street.
SMPD Sgt. Jay Trisler said a resident saw the suspects and called police. Officers responded shortly after 4 a.m. and saw the suspects jump over a fence and into an adjacent alley. Officers pursued the suspects on foot and apprehended two. The third was found about an hour later hiding in another residence. Trisler said canine officers found the suspect in a downstairs bathroom.
In the alley, officers recovered several items, leading them to believe the suspects committed at least two burglaries, Trisler said.
Officers placed all three under arrest for burglary and possession of burglary tools. The suspects were identified as Brandon Joseph, 19, Tamarquis Burke, 18, and Brandon Kittler, 21; all from Los Angeles. Bail was set at $50,000. Burke was held on a probation violation, Trisler said.
“It all goes back to the residents,” Trisler said. “They are our eyes and ears. This person called us, gave us the information and we were able to take the suspects into custody.”
