SAMOHI — The results are in for the 2010 All-California Interscholastic Federation Southern Section 1st team selections for girls’ volleyball, and one junior from Santa Monica High School was chosen to represent Division 3-AA.

Sarah Krenik, outside hitter for the Vikings, was only one of three juniors to be selected for the All-CIF-SS 1st team and was the only player chosen from the Ocean League.

Krenik was also selected as the Most Valuable Player in the Ocean League for the 2010 season.

Head Coach Liane Sato was pleased with how well her team did this season, and looks forward to dominating the Ocean League again next year with veterans like Krenik on the court leading the Vikings.

Sato guided her team to a perfect 8-0 record in Ocean League play this season en route to the Vikings earning the 2010 league title. They ended the regular season in good shape, being ranked No. 6 in Div. 3-AA’s season ending polls, the only team from the Ocean League to make the top 10 rankings.

However, Samohi’s season ended in mid-November after the team qualified for the CIF-SS Div. 3-AAA playoffs. They lost their second round single elimination game to Lancaster High School on Thursday, Nov. 14 after sweeping San Gorgonio High School in the first round earlier that week.
