The theme of the 19th Annual Christmas Faire is “The Gift of Giving” and is inspired by a phrase from the Book of Luke, “Give, and it will be given to you … for the measure you give will be the measure you receive.” The annual faire is truly the gift that gives; all net proceeds from the event are donated to the church’s outreach partners, and include charitable organizations such as Chrysalis — which funds job training and placement for homeless and low-income individuals, Habitat for Humanity — which funds Parish work days at Habitat sites in the Los Angeles area, and the Westside Food Bank — which provides funds for purchase and distribution of essential nutrition for ultra low-income individuals and families.
Last year’s faire raised in excess of $160,000 for these (and other) organizations via a silent auction, gift and food boutiques, the St. Matthew’s Thrift Shop — which features its best wares, a raffle and Outreach gift cards which enable donations to specific Outreach partners. Dr. Callene Momtazee will serve as the event co-chair for the second year in a row, and Santa Monica resident Amy Childress serves in her first term as the event co-chair.
“It’s a truly joyous way to start off the holiday season; catching up with friends old and new and finding the perfect something to put under the Christmas tree,” said Momtazee.
