Do you have a favorite sushi spot? How about a dynamite burger joint?
If so, the Santa Monica Convention & Visitors Bureau wants to know. Tourism officials are asking their Facebook and Twitter friends to submit their “10 Best” lists in Santa Monica to celebrate 10/10/10. The person with the winning list will win a package of 10 dinners for two at 10 Santa Monica restaurants.
Examples of the 10 best include:
• Places to watch a sunset
• Eco-friendly stores,
• Places for a first date
• Coolest places to work up a sweat
Those interested are encouraged to visit www.santamonica.com/10-best-form to submit their lists. Restaurants participating in the contest include Zengo, The Lobster, Whist, Border Grill and Ocean & Vine.
The contest is in conjunction with a three-year promotional effort by hotels to attract visitors looking for deals on lucky number calendar days 10/10/10, 11/11/11 and 12/12/12.
Misti Kerns, president and CEO of the bureau, said lucky number days are often sought out by event planners and travel agents to coincide with weddings, business meetings or special events. Hotels will be offering specials to those who book large groups, including free airport transfers or 10 percent off the master bill.
“Our lucky number promotion is a fun way to showcase Santa Monica and all that it has to offer groups looking for the ideal Southern California experience with unique spaces for meetings and special events,” Kerns said. “This promotion is designed to attract more people to ‘lucky’ Santa Monica … and explore what we have to offer. Although we know luck is not what the success of a meeting is all about, we encourage all to come and play at the beach.”
As the lucky number promotion grows in future years, plans are in the works to grant two Santa Monica dream weddings on 11/11/11 and 12/12/12 in celebration of the lucky number dates. The ultimate wedding package will consist of a beach-side wedding ceremony and reception for 100 people, flight and hotel accommodations, photography services, a dress for the bride, a tuxedo for the groom, and much more.
