In 2009, Wells Fargo & Company awarded 43 grants totaling $264,250 to nonprofit organizations and schools in Santa Monica. The company, combined with Wachovia Corporation, and its team members gave $20 million to Los Angeles-area nonprofit organizations and schools. Nationwide, Wells Fargo gave $202 million in grants in 2009.

Wells Fargo contributed its Santa Monica charitable donations to support a variety of community groups including: Boys and Girls Clubs; California Heritage Museum; Chrysalis; Clare Foundation, Inc.; Common Ground — The Westside HIV Community Center; Heal the Bay; Heartfelt Foundation; Irene Dunne Guild SJHCF; John Wayne Cancer Institute; Madison Project; Meals on Wheels; Ocean Park Community Center; One Voice; Painted Turtle; Pico Youth and Family Center; Project Echo; Prostate Cancer Foundation; Rape Foundation; Santa Monica Bay Area Human Relations Council; St. Monica Catholic High School; Santa Monica College Foundation; Sol-La Music Academy; Special Olympics; UCLA Foundation; Westside Food Bank; and YWCA.
