VENICE BLVD — The Metro bus system on Sunday introduced a new route that travels between Santa Monica and Downtown Los Angeles via Venice Boulevard.

Rapid Line 733 begins at the intersection of Ocean Avenue and Arizona Avenue and ends at Union Station in Los Angeles.

The line runs seven days a week from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m., with buses running every 10 minutes during rush hour and every 15 to 20 minutes during off-peak hours.

“I hope everyone can soon take advantage of this convenient bus line. As a community, we can all take pride in Rapid Line 733 as it shows what we can accomplish working together toward a common goal,” Councilman Bill Rosendahl, who had been advocating for the addition of a Rapid Line on Venice Boulevard, said in a press release.

The Metro Rapid Program debuted in June, 2000. The service uses a combination of frequent service, fewer stops and special transmittal devices that cause traffic lights to favor buses in an attempt to speed up commuter travel time in Los Angeles County.
