New Roads baseball will look to its ace Anthony Carrillo to start its first round CIF-SS Division 7 game today against Dunn at West Los Angeles College.
Carrillo, who was named Harbor League Player of the Year earlier this week, has impressed all season as he compiled a 6-2 record with a 2.83 earned run average. He also tallied 72 strikeouts, by far leading the Jaguars in that category.
“We have a tough draw,” New Roads Head Coach Sean Brookes said of Dunn (5-7 overall, 4-3 in the Condor League). “But we’re ready, I know we’re ready.”
Aside from preparing for the playoffs, New Roads is also celebrating a successful league-winning season as All-Harbor League teams were announced this week.
Aside from Carrillo’s POY award, the team’s Max Chilkov, Quinn Barbini, Nick Rhys and Dylan Elkin were named to the first team. Niko Delgado and Blaise Dolcemaschio were named to the second team.
