People in high places are starting to take notice of New Roads’ baseball team.
The latest California Interscholastic Federation Southern Section Division 7 poll has them ranked third, which is a far cry from last season when the Jaguars finished 5-15.
Fresh off a win over intercity rival Crossroads on Tuesday, New Roads has improved its record to 9-3 overall and 1-0 in league. The Jaguars are on track to finish the season with a winning record, for the first time since the 2006-07 season.
“Our athletic program as a whole is definitely making significant strides this year, and the improvement of the baseball team this season is a testament to this progress,” Athletic Director Dan Weslow wrote via e-mail.
Next up for New Roads is a game against Vasquez, which is 12-2 this season. The game will be played at Vasquez at 3:15 p.m.
