The Santa Monica Cultural Affairs Division is now asking local artists to submit proposals for the upcoming biannual nighttime event, GLOW.

GLOW highlights temporary art installations from Los Angeles County artists, which will be featured this year on the Santa Monica Beach, Palisades Park and other local areas.

The event first took place in July 2008, when more than 100 artists created 27 art installations that were displayed on the Santa Monica Beach. More than 200,000 people came to see the art, which was often interactive.

This year, GLOW will be held on Sept. 25, but submissions must be received no later than April 12 at 5 p.m. Any professional artist or artist team who lives or works in Los Angeles County is welcome to submit a proposal.

Artists can earn between $1,500 and $2,500 for their work.

Additional information and details about the application can be found online at www.glowsantamonica.org.
