A memorial service for the late Mayor Ken Genser will be held Jan. 24, at 1:30 p.m. at Barnum Hall on the Santa Monica High School campus, city officials said Tuesday.

The memorial is open to the public.

Genser, 59, was the longest serving elected official in city history and a staunch supporter of renters’ rights. He died Saturday at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. Genser was admitted to the hospital over 10 weeks ago after complaining of back pain and a shortness of breath.
