OCEAN AVE — A 77-year-old was struck by a vehicle while crossing the street at the intersection of Ocean and Idaho avenues over the weekend, police said.

The pedestrian suffered serious head trauma and was transported to a local hospital. No new information on the pedestrian’s condition was available Monday.

The accident occurred on Saturday, Sept. 26, at around 7:53 a.m. Investigators believe the driver of the vehicle, a resident of Santa Monica Canyon, was traveling southbound on Ocean Avenue. The pedestrian, a Santa Monica resident, was walking eastbound in a crosswalk.

The driver was interviewed at the location and released. The Santa Monica Police Department is continuing to investigate the exact cause of the collision.
