LOS ANGELES State regulators have ordered Los Angeles-area transportation officials to replace a problematic piece of track at the junction where two light rail lines meet.
Metro spokesman Rick Jager said Monday that transportation agencies will work to develop a plan to satisfy the concerns of the California Public Utilities Commission over the junction of the Metro Expo Line and Blue Line.
The Expo Line will eventually reach Santa Monica in 2015. Currently, it stretches from downtown L.A. to Culver City.
Jager says last Friday officials corrected a defect in a small portion of the track where the new Expo Line meets the Blue Line at Washington and Flower near downtown Los Angeles.
Jager says public safety was never compromised by the defect and transportation officials had been monitoring the issues for some time.
