SAMOHI — Having already clinched at least a share of the Ocean League title, the Vikings will look to complete a perfect 10-0 season this week at home.

A league crown would be Santa Monica High School’s 10th straight in softball.

First for the Vikings is Morningside on Tuesday. On Thursday, Samohi will host Culver City on senior day. Both games are scheduled for 3:15 p.m.

Xrds boys hit road for playoffs

Crossroads’ boys’ volleyball team will travel to La Quinta, winner of the Garden Grove League, for the first round of the CIF-Southern Section Division 4 playoffs today.

Crossroads, which finished third in the Alpha League, is playing in the same division as crosstown’s Samohi. Santa Monica is the No. 1 seed in the division.

Faulk named all-state

Samohi’s Moriah Faulk was named to the Cal-Hi Sports All-State Girls’ Basketball Second Team, it was announced last week.

The senior who has committed to play for UCLA next season, led the Vikings to the semi-finals of the CIF-SS Division 1AA this year. The forward averaged nearly 14 points this season.

Her career at Samohi was highlighted by winning the CIF-SS Division 1A title in 2010.

New Roads moves up in rankings

New Roads’ baseball team has moved up to No. 2 in the latest CIF-SS Division 7 poll, it was announced on Monday.

First place New Roads hosts Coastal League rival Vistamar today at Clover Park. The Jaguars close the regular season on Friday at home against Rolling Hills Prep. Both games are scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
