Local soccer team repeats as state champs

After a successful regular season, the AYSO Girls U12 Extra Team from Santa Monica defeated Mission Viejo in Davis, Calif. last Saturday to repeat as state champions.

The team defeated Camarillo in the semifinal to reach the title game.

The Extra Team has been winning tournaments all season en route to their victory at the state championship.

The team features many of the same players from last year’s winning side. A total of six players returned to pull off the repeat.
