It was nice to read the article about the Santa Monica Boys & Girls Club opening another facility in Santa Monica at no cost to taxpayers (”Match made in heaven,” Jan. 11, 2013, page 1), unlike the recent turmoil about the Pico Youth Center, which is funded primarily by Santa Monica taxpayers with little to show for it (”City Council funds youth center through June,” Jan. 10, 2013, page 1).

The Santa Monica Boys & Girls Club has a long history of success in helping Santa Monica youth. The City Council should reevaluate its funding and put “our” money where it will do the most good.
