It’s good for the city-funded youth center that Oscar de la Torre is finally stepping down (”Executive director leaves youth center,” April 5, page 1). Or is he really? The misinformation campaign coming from the group has him stepping down as director, but then has him appointing himself as the group’s interim director. And when — or if — he is ever replaced as interim director he’s going to stay on as a consultant? All the while with pay and benefits, no doubt. The more things change, the more they stay the same. Hopefully the city has success with its proposal process and finds a replacement organization that actually serves the needs of our youth, and not de la Torre’s bank account.
