Editor:

“The Meaning of Lila” is my favorite part of SMDP (”Not thinking,” Letters to the Editor, Sept. 27, 2013). The characters speak stupidity. It’s funny. What the characters say is not what the writer or SMDP believes. Does political correctness cause readers to be incapable of that distinction?

On the other hand, columnists supposedly believe what they say. But some regularly insult those they disagree with by mischaracterizing their positions. Now that’s offensive.
