My father was a World War II United States Marine combat veteran who was able to return home to his family after the war was over. Our family was very fortunate for that. Many other men and women and their families were not as blessed.
The Chain Reaction sculpture by the Civic Auditorium has always represented the brave, proud and proper strategic action taken to terminate the senseless killing of American soldiers and others by harnessing nuclear energy for the righteous objective of ending Japanese aggression.
We all are forever grateful to those who showed the courage to act appropriately to conclude the war and bring our loved ones back home.
