Jack Neworth’s column on guns in America is one of the best I’ve ever read on the ongoing problem of this country’s love affair with weapons (“Newtown is every town,” Laughing Matters, Dec. 20).

In spite of National Rifle Association rhetoric, guns really do kill people and this nation is flooded with them. We are like ducks in a gigantic shooting gallery.
