What a contrast in reporting last week. On the one hand you have the wonderful article about David Ramirez and the Boys & Girls Club, and all the great work that organization has done to serve the youth of our community (“Boys & Girls Club to open two new branches in CCSM buildings,” Jan. 11) .
But then you have the Pico Youth & Family Center, run by a politician only to serve and advance his own self-interests and agenda, all on the taxpayers‚Äô dime, a dime which the group apparently has a good deal of trouble accounting for (“PYFC holds on; Council agrees to fund youth center through June,” Jan. 10).
Congratulations and the best of luck to Mr. Ramirez, the first in his family to attend college.
Thankfully there is at least one organization in our city that actually serves our youth.
