With the season of giving upon us and presents on the way, Flair Cleaners invites all Southern Californians to make a little room in their closets and drawers by donating to their seventh annual Holiday Clothing Drive. The drive begins Nov. 27, the day after Thanksgiving, and will run through Dec. 31.
“Everyone is very enthusiastic about this program,” cleaners owner Gary Futterman said. “Since we started the clothing drive seven years ago, our customers have really gotten into the spirit of giving, and each year more and more clothing is brought in.”
Garments will be collected at the Flair Cleaners location in Santa Monica (720 Montana Ave.), as well as at the locations in Valencia, Burbank, Studio City and Redondo Beach. Large, brightly wrapped boxes will be on hand, ready to receive the garments for the National Council of Jewish Women Thrift Shop, St. Vincent de Paul’s Thrift Store and Helping Hands for the Blind.
Flair staffers hope to top last year’s donation of 6,000 garments, and want to remind people that there is no such thing as donating too many clothes.
“Anyone is welcome to drop off items to share — the more the merrier,” Futterman said.
Flair staffers will have receipts on hand for anyone looking to receive a tax deduction for their donations.
