Senior wide receiver Sam Holguin and sophomore defensive lineman Mau Lauaki were named to the All-CIF-SS Northeast Division team late last week.
The honors follow a season that saw St. Monica go 8-3, continuing its rebuilding following a number of down years.
Holguin finished the season with 37 receptions, 722 yards and five touchdowns. He was a vital part of the Mariners’ pass-happy offense. He also filled in at quarterback when starter Matthew Partyka went down with an injury.
Lauaki led St. Monica with 95 tackles. He also led the team with 13.5 sacks.
“This is a testament to the good job our team did last season,” Athletic Director Rick Bruce said.
