This holiday season, Los Angeles Children’s Theater presents a musical and magical stage adaptation of the beloved children’s story, “The Velveteen Rabbit” (or “How Toys Become Real”) as part of its annual Children’s Theater Festival.
“The Velveteen Rabbit” tells the cherished tale of a stuffed rabbit and his quest to become real through the love of his owner. Inspired by and closely following Margery Williams original story, LACT’s production explores the theme of how love creates a lifelong relationship with toys, friends, and family and makes such relationships “real”.
LACT’s “Velveteen Rabbit” includes a cast of mimes, clowns, robots, and toy horses, rabbits, china dolls, and a variety of other characters. Music, creative movement, wonderful animal costumes, magical effects, and interaction with the audience makes this show a “must see” for children aged three and up.
The Little Theater is an intimate, 49-seat theater with ample and convenient street parking. Audiences are advised to please purchase tickets early due to limited seating.
“Velveteen Rabbit” plays in repertory with “Pinocchio” in the Children’s Theater Festival through January 5.
General Admission $10. Festival Pass (both shows) $15.
