Westwood United Methodist Church announces the second concert of its annual
Summer Organ Concerts series for 2013. The three free Sunday afternoon concerts feature the
church’s Shaffer Memorial Organ, one of the most remarkable instruments of its kind, played by three
of the finest organists in Los Angeles. The next program will be presented Sunday, July 28, 2013
at 3 p.m. by Daniel Kerr.
Daniel Kerr earned his bachelor’s, master’s and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees from the University
of Southern California Thornton School of Music, where he studied organ with Dr. Ladd Thomas and
Cherry Rhodes. He is a member of the music faculty at Brigham Young University – Idaho, where he is
the director of organ studies, and coordinates the Musicianship program. He also teaches
orchestration and works with composition students. His program will include music by J.S. Bach,

Admission for the concert is free. A voluntary offering will be received. Complimentary secure
parking is available adjacent to the church building.
