The Unitarian Universalist Community Church of Santa Monica is pleased to announce an exhibition of art by Talita Long.
Talita’s art draws on her West Indian heritage and uses color and figures to reveal another reality — her deep devotion to experiences, images, and culture.
She received a B.F.A. degree from Cooper Union College and M.A. and M.F.A. degrees from the University of Iowa. Talita has taught art in Los Angeles schools, designed art programs for senior citizens and children, and has taught art at the California Institute for Men as part of UCLA’s Art Extension programs. She has also worked with youth offenders in the California penal system. Talita received the Outstanding Teacher’s Award from the Department of the Arts at UCLA.
See her art after Sunday services in December or during the week by appointment. Contact UUCCSM for the date and time when the artist will be present: (310) 829-5436 weekdays and at www.uusm.org.
