Youngsters create a play in five fun-filled days in this spectacular adventure in imagination where kids 6 to 16 dive into all aspects of play production, music, movement, acting and self-expression, making friends, and performing an original mini-musical, complete with costumes, make-up, props, lights and sound! It’s the extremely popular Spring Break Create-a-Play Acting Camp at Santa Monica Playhouse, where kids have fun discovering the joy of creativity and theatre magic. “I can’t stop smiling cheek to cheek!” beamed student Maia A. after her first day. Two sessions to choose from: March 25-29 and April 1-5, 9:00am to 3:00pm daily.“A delight! As I always tell other parents, you get more for your money (more fun, more education, more actual camp hours) at the SM Playhouse than any other camp available,” says Mary Redfield. Working with professional theatre artists to create an astonishing piece of original theatre, presented for friends and family, and the public, on the last day of each session, makes it all the more special. It’s the perfect way for aspiring thespians or curious first-timers to spend an enchanting week and get a taste of what expressive imagination is all about. Maroon 5’s Mickey Madden calls the Playhouse Acting Program “Great in so many ways!” Playhouse alumni include Kate Hudson, Zooey Deschanel, Emily Deschanel, Jason Ritter and Jason Segel. Get out of the classroom and onto the stage for a spirited Spring Break theatre adventure!
