Maybe it’s the ocean breeze. Maybe the top-notch dining options. Whatever it is, singles rate Santa Monica as the top spot to meet and date in the Los Angeles area, according to a survey released by dating site Match.com.
“It’s no surprise singles love Santa Monica, a city that boasts the title of ‘California’s Most Celebrated Beach City,’” said Whitney Casey, relationship expert for Match.com. “With some of the hottest new restaurants and swankiest nightlife, all located on a beautiful coastline, Santa Monica provides the perfect setting for the urban dater.”
The survey was the result of 1,000 singles weighing in on where to take — or meet — that special someone.
Deemed the best place for singles to be, 43 percent of respondents said they enjoy meeting potential dates in Santa Monica, while the neighboring community of Brentwood is deemed the worst. Some 43 percent of those surveyed also stated that more attractive singles reside in this section of L.A. than in any other neighborhood, and 46 percent of singles chose Santa Monica as their favorite neighborhood for dates.
Founded in 1995, Match.com claims to be the original dating website and pioneer of the online dating industry. Today, 17 years later, Match.com operates subscription-based online dating sites in 25 countries, eight languages and across five continents.
