HIGH SCHOOL BOYS’ VOLLEYBALL

CITYWIDE — It was a mixed bag for Santa Monica-based boys’ volleyball teams in the second round of the CIF-Southern Section playoffs on Thursday.

Crossroads was able to slip past La Salle at home in four games; 25-16, 25-20, 23-25, 25-21.

The Roadrunners advance to face San Gabriel, the winner of the Almont League on Saturday at home in CIF-SS Division 4. The game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.

Crossroads had previously dispatched La Quinta in the first round on Tuesday.

Santa Monica High School, the No. 1 seed in Division 4, won a road game against Montebello in four games; 25-12, 25-18, 17-25, 25-20. The win sets up a road game in the quarterfinals for the Vikings against Bishop Montgomery on Saturday. The game is scheduled for 4 p.m.

St. Monica, coming off winning the Camino Real League with a perfect 10-0 record this year, took San Gabriel Academy to five games on the road, but were unable to advance to the quarterfinals. The scores were: 22-25, 23-25, 25-20, 25-20, 12-15.
