SAMOHI — Santa Monica High School’s boys’ basketball team kept its playoff hopes alive by beating Ocean League rival Morningside, 63-48, Tuesday at home.
The win puts Samohi in a flat-footed tie for third place in a league that sends three teams to the California Interscholastic Federation Southern Section playoffs.
If both teams either lose or win their next games — the final ones of the regular season — it would force a one-game playoff to determine the final playoff berth from the league. That game would take place Friday.
Samohi (5-4 in league) will close the regular season Thursday at home against Hawthorne. That game is part of a double-header with the girls’ team. Morningside faces first place Inglewood, also on Thursday.
