LANCASTER — Crossroads’ boys’ basketball team overwhelmed Desert Christian, 78-59, in the first round of the California Interscholastic Federation Southern Section Division 5AA playoffs on Wednesday.

The Roadrunners were again led by sharp-shooting guard Luke Shmuger, who scored 24 points. Fellow senior Gyasi Williams chipped in 14 points while pulling down 10 rebounds in the blowout victory.

“We could have hit 100 on them if I kept in my horses,” Head Coach Kevin Jackson said. “We followed through on what we preached all season: get open shots.”

Crossroads advances to the second round against Pasadena Blair tonight at home. The game is scheduled for 7 p.m.
