Another burger restaurant is coming to Santa Monica and like many Santa Monicans, they’re a transplant.
Hollywood Burger — an international burger chain with a location in, well, Hollywood — will arrive in Santa Monica later this year. The fast-casual restaurant will take residence at the former home of ChouChou Cafe / Z Garden on Wilshire and serve locally-sourced gourmet style burgers, hot dogs, chicken sandwiches, breakfast options, shakes and more.
Kevin Shea, Hollywood Burger’s Director of Operations, says the location choice — just off the Third Street Promenade and only blocks from the beach — was purposeful, noting he and his company’s top brass felt the former ChouChou location is a prime spot for finding people.
“We’re always looking at expansion and growing locations,” Shea began, “And our Santa Monica location is in a great area. We think we’ll get a lot of foot traffic from both tourists and locals.”
Hollywood Burger adds to an ever-increasing field of burger restaurants located either in the Promenade or its immediate vicinity— the international-chain will compete with the soon-to-be grand-opened Burgerim, Johnny Rockets, Steak’n Shake, Stout Burgers and Beer, Umami Burger and Burger Lounge.
Shea says his chain has what it takes to compete with these brands and more.
“We’re good at what we do,” Shea said. “Check Yelp, Google Reviews and Facebook. Right now, our location in Hollywood is rated number one. We hit on all cylinders: hospitality, food, environment. We’re going to make you feel good when you come to Hollywood Burger.”
Shea says Hollywood Burger is slated to open sometime towards the 4th quarter of the year.
